What You Need to Know
-
Your first class begins with a short chat with the instructor about your fitness level and any injuries, so we can guide you safely from the start. The class opens with a salutation ceremony, followed by a warmup that includes functional fitness exercises. Training is barefoot and led step by step through technical techniques, using Korean terms explained clearly in English. Short breaks are included to hydrate and refocus during training. Classes usually do not include sparring, although some exercises are done in pairs. With regular practice, you will learn and refine new techniques at each belt level including advanced kicks, forms and self-defense. Classes are held without background music to help you fully focus on your technique, discipline, and personal growth.
-
For your first class, just wear comfortable workout clothes. The instructor will guide you on the traditional uniform, which will be required after a few weeks of training.
-
Hwalmoodo classes take place every Monday from 19:00 to 20:45. We understand it can be tricky to arrive right on time after work, so a few minutes’ grace is fine, but we recommend arriving about 10 minutes early to settle in and get the most out of your session — otherwise, be prepared to do thee pushups for every minute you’re late!
